This was our first time attending the Gasparilla Music Fest at Curtis Hixon Park. Scheduling (because my life is always busy and hey, life decided to also throw me a few lemons!) made it to where we could only enjoy pieces of each day of the fest. It was a great time and a much appreciated gift from Andrew’s uncle. We dropped in as we could and attended the show with Andrew’s family. In spite of this being a gigantic event it still felt very intimate and while there were tons of people roaming around, once we set up our folding chairs it felt like it was just the six of us.
Andrew and I are already looking forward to next year - I am pre-planning now to not plan for the month of March so that we will be able to see more of the performances. It sounds silly but yes - my schedule is usually planned a year in advance. With 11 venues hosting Fringe Art Shows, I have to be overly organized.
We ate lots of tent grub and while my tummy aches from it - it was delicious in the moment. We also enjoyed artwork - getting to see the set up my Michelle Sawyer and MergeCulture during the event was a treat for me. The featured Artist Yvonne Ferg’s work was beyond beautiful, and we enjoyed LOTS music of course.
Did you attend Gasparilla Music Fest this year? Who was your favorite performer?
